Bill allowing police to review body cam footage before filing report advances πŸ’₯πŸ‘©πŸ‘©πŸ’₯

Police officers in New Jersey are one step closer to being able to review body camera footage before they give their police reports.

A bill to allow the practice has advanced in the state Assembly. It passed 71-0 with two abstentions.

Supporters of the bill say that the practice allows officers to draft more accurate reports, especially when they file reports hours or days after an incident.

But opponents say that relying on body camera footage would lead to a lack of police testimony that often paints a picture of emotions that aren’t on camera.
