Joseph Anderson, 30, shot and killed Kiara Anderson, 29, in their apartment in Lithopolis, Ohio, about 100 miles from Cincinnati.
According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, the shooter killed his two sons, Joseph Jr., 5 years old, and Jeffrey, 2 years old, before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide.
‘Three of the victims appeared to have been murdered on purpose, and the man’s death appeared to be a suicide,’ Sheriff Alex Lape said.
According to the Lancaster Eagle Gazette, a neighbor called police shortly before 10 a.m. after Joseph Anderson texted her saying ‘he had snapped,’ telling the dispatcher that her neighbors were getting divorced and that she is worried he will ‘do something to himself.’
Joseph Anderson tried to call her while she was talking to the dispatcher.
The shooter called the neighbor’s mother when she didn’t answer the phone.
The caller sobbed as she told the dispatcher that her mother had texted her, saying that Joseph Anderson had told her he had shot Kiara.
According to the local outlet, the call ended shortly after that.
The bodies were then discovered in a house in the 300 block of Westview Terrace by deputies.
The incident is being investigated as a homicide-suicide, according to Lape.
He stated that there is no reason to believe anything else at this time.
The scene is currently being analyzed.
