An Ohio man in the midst of a testy divorce from his wife ‘snapped’ on Wednesday morning, killing his spouse and their two young boys before turning the gun on himself in their home.

Kiara Anderson, 29, was shot dead by her husband, Joseph Anderson, 30, in their apartment in Lithopolis, about 100 miles from Cincinnati.

The shooter killed his two sons, 5-year-old Joseph Jr. and 2-year-old Jeffrey, before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide, according to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.

‘Three of the victims appeared to be intentionally killed and the man’s death was an apparent suicide,’ Sheriff Alex Lape said.

A neighbor called police shortly before 10 am when Joseph Anderson texted her saying ‘he had snapped,’ telling the dispatcher that her neighbors were getting a divorce and that she is worried he will ‘do something to himself,’ according to the Lancaster Eagle Gazette.

Police found the bodies of Kiara M. Anderson, 29, 5-year-old Joseph Anderson and 2-year-old Jeffrey Anderson shot dead in their Lithopolis home on Wednesday morning. The woman’s wife and the boys’ father, 30-year-old Joseph Anderson, was found there with a self-inflicted gunshot wound

As she spoke to the dispatcher, Joseph Anderson tried to call her. When she didn’t pick up, the shooter contacted the neighbor’s mother.

The caller burst into tears and told the dispatcher that her mother had texted her, writing that Joseph Anderson said he had shot Kiara. The call ended shortly afterward, the local outlet reported.

Then, deputies found the bodies in the house on the 300 block of Westview Terrace.

Lape said the incident is being investigated as a homicide-suicide. He said, at this time, there is no reason to suspect otherwise. The scene is still being processed.
