Prosecutors have involuntarily charged 15-year-old parents, who were accused of killing four students and injuring seven others, in a high school in Michigan on Friday.

James and Jennifer Cranby were each charged with four manslaughter charges.

Officials said Ethan Cranby fired at Oxford High School, about 30 miles north of Detroit, just before 1 pm on Tuesday. Seven students and one teacher were shot dead before Crumbley surrendered to the sheriff’s agent.

Three of the students died on Tuesday. The fourth died in the hospital on Wednesday.

According to investigators, the semi-automatic rifle used in the shooting was legally purchased by Cranby’s father last week.

“Only my parents were in a position to know access to weapons,” Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald said Thursday. The gun “seems to be freely available to the individual.”
