The police had earlier issued a lookout notice for the woman, Jithu, after confirming that the woman who was charred to death at their home on Tuesday is her sibling 25-year-old Vismaya.

The police also confirmed that Vismaya was murdered.

Jithu was taken into custody from her hideout in Kakkanad by the evening.

According to the police, Vismaya was against Jithu’s love affair and they had fought over the matter before. Their neighbours claim that Jithu used to harass her family members.

Earlier, the post-mortem report revealed that the woman who died due to the burns belongs to age group of 23 to 30 years. Since blood stains were found at the house, the police’s assumption is that the sisters had a physical fight when their parents were away from home.

But at the same time, the police said that till now it didn’t get any conclusive evidence to say that Jithu had run away from the place after setting her sister ablaze. The living room of the house was fully gutted in the fire. Vismaya’s charred body was found inside this room.

No other bruises could be found in the body during the post-mortem. The Ernakulam Rural SP K Karthik said that Jithu had gone missing on earlier occasions too.
