A family of four, including an eleven-year-old and one-year-old, was found dead inside their house in Tamil Nadu’s Perungudi.
The man, identified as Manikandan, worked at a private firm in Ramapuram. He was married to 35-year-old Thara and the couple had two sons.
Police suspect that the 36-year-old man had hit his wife with a cricket bat in a fit of rage, and killed her. He then allegedly strangled his two kids, before hanging himself from a hook in the kitchen.
The police were informed about the dead bodies inside an apartment complex at Perungudi. According to the officials, Thara had severe injuries to her head, while the two children were suffocated to death. Manikandan was found hanging in the kitchen.
The police questioned the neighbours and the man’s colleague and learnt that Manikandan had allegedly borrowed money from his friends. He was also irregular at his work and reportedly used to spend more time in front of his computer at home.
Manikandan was allegedly addicted to online gambling, which led to quarrels between him and his wife.
After the bodies were discovered, a case was registered by the police and further investigation is underway.
