Tumacacori, AZ (KVOA) – Police investigate a suspected murder suicide after discovering two dead bodies in a residence on Wednesday, December 29.

The Santa Cruz County Sherriff’s office responded to a call received in the afternoon of Wednesday, December 29. At approximately 5:09 PM, two dead bodies were discovered by police in a residence in the area of Old Bailey Crossing in Tumacacori, Ariz.

After investigation, police determined it as a probable murder-suicide. The bodies found at the scene were of a 73-year-old female and a 76-year-old male. The female had a gun shot wound to the right of her head from a revolver with one spent round, and the male body was found at the residence with no visible signs of wound trauma. The suspected cause of death for the male was a drug overdose. A dead dog was also found at the residence that appears to have died from one or more gunshots from a semi-automatic pistol found at the scene, police say.

The names of the two decease are yet to be released. The actual causes of death are yet to be determined by the Office of the Pima County Medical Examiner which has taken the bodies for further forensic examination.
