AUBURN, Wash. β Auburn Police are investigating what they say appears to be murder-suicide that happened Tuesday night.
Detectives are still working to determine the circumstances of the case, but said there are no outstanding suspects or threat to the public at this time.
Police responded to a call of shots fired near the 2100 block of 66th Street Southeast.
Once officers went inside the home, they found the bodies of a 41-year-old man, a 41-year-old woman and a 10-year-old child inside, Auburn police said.
Neighbors say the deceased are a mother, father and son.
βItβs the New Year too, I donβt know why anybody would do this,β said Carmen Barlianto, who lives nearby.
Auburn Police say it was just before 7 p.m. Tuesday when the call came in.
According to Auburn Police, at the time of the shooting, there was also a 12-year-old in the home who was able to get out unharmed. The child was able to get in touch with one of the neighbors, who then dialed 911.
Barlianto and others neighbors say that child is the coupleβs daughter.
βItβs a tragedy for the family and I donβt know whatβs going to happen to her,β said Barlianto.
Police tape and cop cars lined the road for hours, as neighbors looked on.
βThe neighbors, we all get together and hang out together, watch football together,β said Alfredo Roque. βItβs kind of shocking that this happens right down the street.β
As investigators start to piece the case together, many are now wondering what happened at the home and what the future holds for the coupleβs daughter.
βIβm praying for that family,β says neighbor Abdul Jama. βMy prayers and my thoughts are with them, so we will see whatβs going on.β
