An explosion rocked an East Drumore Township recycling yard Wednesday morning, according to a supervisor with Lancaster County-Wide Communications.

The explosion was reported at Full Circle Recycling, a scrap metal recycling yard in the 900 block of Lancaster Pike (Route 272), near the Providence Township line just north of Buck Road (Route 372), at 10:55 a.m., the supervisor said.

A Rawlinsville firefighter told an LNP|LancasterOnline correspondent that 55-gallon oil drums had exploded, as well as numerous tires and several vehicles. It was not immediately clear what caused the explosion, or how many oil drums were involved.

Rawlinsville Fire Chief Carl Strickler Jr. was unable to provide any additional information about the explosion Wednesday afternoon.

No one was injured in the incident.

Firefighters remained at the scene for about an hour and a half before departing.
