HYDERABAD: After arresting fugutive Vanama Raghavendra Rao, TRS MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao‘s son, late on Friday on the charge of allegedly abetting four members of a family to commit suicide, Bhadradri-Kothagudem police on Saturday arrested four more persons for reportedly harbouring Raghavendra while he was on the run from police for five days. A local court sent Raghavendra in 14-day judicial remand.
Kothagudem police said that apart from Raghavendra Rao, they arrested his accomplices – Girish, Murali, C Srinivas and Ramakanth – under Section 201 of the IPC. TRS MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao’s son Raghavendra was constantly changing places in Eluru, Vizag, Rajahmundry and a few others place in Andhra Pradesh while on the run before police finally nabbed him at Dammapeta in Bhadradri-Kothagudem. On January 3, Naga Ramakrishna poured fuel on his wife Srilakshmi and twin daughters -Sahitya and Sahithi – and set themselves ablaze. Ramakrishna left a suicide note and a selfie video blaming his mother Suryavathi and sister L Madhavi apart from Raghavendra for their suicide pact. Ramakrishna alleged that apart from the property aspects of their family, wherein the MLA’s son was intervening, Raghavendra allegedly harassed him by seeking sexual favours from his wife.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, assistant superintendent of police Rohit Raju said that Raghavendra Rao admitted harassing Ramakrishna and his family.
“We found that there are 12 cases, including the latest abetment to suicide case, against Raghvendra Rao. In the other cases, the charges were attempt to murder, abetment to suicide, assault on public servant and prevent him from discharging his duties and others,” Rohit said.
Raghavendra was taken for medical examination to a local hospital, where most of his health parameters were found to be normal. He was shifted to a local court in Kothagudem, and the local magistrate sent him in judicial remand.
While he was being shifted from police station to court, several protestors, including BJP cadre, staged protests in large numbers by raising slogans. BJP activists stopped the police convoy in which Raghavendra, was being shifted with high security.
