An Australian soldier has died after collapsing during a training exercise at Robertson Barracks in Darwin.
The 20-year-old man’s death is currently being investigated by the Australian Defence Force, which has yet to determine the exact cause of death for the member of the 5th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment.
The soldier was reportedly given first aid from members of his platoon, who immediately called an ambulance after he collapsed.
“We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends, and are providing ongoing welfare support at this difficult time,” a spokesperson wrote in a statement.
“While Defence is investigating, the cause of death is yet to be determined by the coroner, therefore it is not appropriate for us to discuss the matter further at this time.
“Out of respect for the family, Defence will not be releasing any further information regarding the soldier‘s personal or service details.”
