Conservative pundit and podcaster Candace Owens pushed back hard against an emerging narrative on the Left that a “race war” is taking place, adding that she believes it is a fictional narrative perpetuated by famous black athletes and the media.

In a Tuesday appearance on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Owens — author of “Black Out: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape From The Democrat Plantation” — the host began discussing recent comments involving her and NBA star LeBron James.

Carlson said that James has “weighed in a lot on the riots, the demonstrations,” that became regular occurrences over the summer, as well as the Black Lives Matter movement. He then asked Owens why she thought James hadn’t yet responded to a request from Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva to match the reward money being offered for information leading to the capture and conviction of the person who attempted to assassinate two deputies on Saturday.

“I’d like first to point out and remind America of what LeBron James specifically said a couple of months ago, and I spoke out against this immediately,” Owens began, noting that the LA Lakers superstar tweeted to his millions of fans “that we are literally being hunted.”

Owens was referencing a May 6 tweet James posted in response to the alleged murder of Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia. Three white men have since been arrested and charged in the killing.

“We, meaning black people, being hunted by, meaning, white people in this country,” Owens continued, suggesting that continued rhetoric like that sends out a “bat signal to black Americans, young black American men, when someone of his caliber, of his status, is saying that ‘we are literally being hunted.’”

Continuing, the conservative firebrand added that words like those James chose to use also strongly imply that “white people are predators, that are law enforcement agents are predators, and that we are in a state of survival.”

“If you are literally being hunted, that sort of rhetoric, that would mean that you either have to run to survive or you have to hunt first to survive,” she continued.

She said that mentality may have manifested itself in the attack on the two LASD deputies.

“It breaks my heart. And what breaks my heart is this criminal will eventually be caught…but it won’t be enough, Tucker, because there is an entire ecosystem of guilt,” she said.

Owens mentioned Sen. Kamala Harris as one political leader “who is basically signaling to criminals it’s okay to be a criminal, it’s not okay to be a law enforcement officer,” implying further that “media henchmen” are also responsible for enabling incidents like the attack on the deputies.

Carlson then asked if he was “misremembering” Owens being called “a racist” for her prior criticism of James, to which she explained she had been. She also said she was deemed “a white supremacist,” which led Carlson to laugh out loud.

“These athletes have a responsibility. You know, you cannot just signal to these young men that they’re being hunted, that’s not true,” Owens insisted.

“We are not in a race war. The Leftist media is trying to create that simulation because they are after the destruction of America,” she added.

On Sunday during an interview with Fox News host Mark Levin, Owens called out “pea-brained” James for allegedly stoking anti-police violence, among other things.

“Why does this happen?” She tweeted Sunday in a post with the LA County Sheriffs’ video of the shooting.

“Because pea-brained celebrities that are idolized like @KingJames tell young black men that they are ‘literally being hunted’. This is the natural result of such hyperbolic, dishonest rhetoric.”
