An emergency warning has been issued for an out-of-control bushfire threatening lives in the town of Gingin, north of Perth.
The blaze is burning fast in an easterly direction towards the Gingin townsite and there is a threat to lives and homes.
People in the affected area are being told they should leave now for a safer place if the way is clear.
A fire was burning out of control north of Perth near Gingin on Wednesday afternoon
‘Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute is deadly,’ the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said on Wednesday.
‘If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home.’
Firefighters are on the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The DFES has confirmed there were burn-offs in the area on Wednesday afternoon.
