The Melbourne Vixens have sent Caitlin Thwaites out a winner, beating the West Coast Fever during the Super Netball grand final in Brisbane.
Playing in their first Super Netball decider, the Vixens established a break in the third quarter and held on to win 66-64.
Fever shooter Jhaniele Fowler led the way with 54 goals from 55 attempts, but her opposite number Mwai Kumwenda was the player of the match, converting 47 goals from 50 attempts, while the veteran goal attack Thwaites — who is retiring after 232 games — was a perfect 10 from 10.
The Fever were playing in their second grand final. They lost the 2018 decider to the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
More to come.
