A truck driver who initially denied unlawfully killing a mother-of-three in a Perth highway crash has now changed his plea.

David Lawrence West allegedly ran a red light and struck 55-year-old Moira Dunstall’s car with his prime mover, which was towing a trailer, on Tonkin Hwy in Forrestdale in April last year.

He was initially charged with dangerous driving causing death, but the offence was later upgraded to manslaughter.

West admitted to the killing when he faced the WA Supreme Court for a status conference hearing on Thursday.

A trial of issues will be held at a later date, then he will be sentenced.

West’s bail was renewed until his next court appearance.
